| Monsoon Magazine's idea
was born from a desire to fill in the gaps of existing South Asian and
South Asian diasporic literature and art with a spectrum of beliefs. The
deep-rooted connections of a shared history give the countries of South
Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) an experience
that is universal and yet utterly personal. What are these connections?
Where have they brought us? And how will they shape our future? These are
some questions Monsoon Magazine hopes to delve into and explore through
its literature and art.
More specifically, Monsoon
Magazine is dedicated to the creation and sustenance of a vibrant dialogue
between emerging and established South Asian practitioners of the creative
arts, along with its supporters. With the popularity and growth of South
Asian art, dance, film, literature and music, in the West and within South
Asia, it is surprising that the internet lacks an intelligent and aesthetically
appealing place to house and access all these interests. Monsoon Magazine
hopes to fill that void, by bringing to the world wide web, and in turn
the real world, the most creative and innovative of expressions, emblematic
of the beautiful complexity that South Asia is.
Though we may not please
everyone, we are here for everyone. And if there's one thing we are dead
serious about, it's our dedication and commitment to South Asia and its
diverse arts. Won't you join us in making Monsoon Magazine your magazine
too? |
