"Becoming a photographer was not a conscious decision. It just happened
over a period of time. I think I loved it so much that I didn't even notice
it becoming a part of my life. My interest in photography began when I
lied to my best teacher that I could take pictures. Later, when he gave
me a camera and asked me to take a group photograph of the school teachers
for a publication, I could not tell him the truth. Luckily, the pictures
turned out to be very good and only then did I have courage to tell him
the truth. Seeing the results, at first he could not believe that I had
never taken any photographs before, but then encouraged me to pursue photography,
believing that I had a natural talent for it."

"I consider myself to be a realist painter because I paint both the
surface and depth of what I see. By "surface," I mean the illusions
of texture, skin color, and smell -- elements associated with our earthly
presence. By "depth" I refer to our in-born instincts, our passions,
and our ideas as social beings. Through painting, I attempt to explore
the balance between surfaces and depths I perceive within myself and others.”
